CPL 2.0- Week 11

Twitter-

This assignment allowed me to view the library tweets and others as well. I don't think that I would use Twitter; I do see its usefulness, especially if you are texting on a telephone.

Cpl 2.0 Week 10

Library Thing-

I have used Library Thing in the past and continue to use it. It is a user-friendly site and I find it easy to navigate. I have recommended it to customers, but I also use the genre books here at Thorn Hill. I enjoyed reading the book reviews and finding out that opinions can differ so greatly on a given book.

Thank you for the assignment.

On-line Productivity Tools

Week 9

This assignment allowed me to look at the Google Calendar. After trying this tool out, I decided that I am a person who prefers the traditional calendar (made of paper)! I am so used to writing things down on my wall calendar, that I could not get used to the format. I think there are many benefits to on-line tools, but I will stay with what I am used to.

CPL 2.0 - Week 8

Flickr and YouTube

This past week I looked at Flickr and YouTube. I have never worked with these programs before. I don't think that I would use Flickr, but it was good to see its uses. I did come across some beautiful photographs for sale.
I am having lots of fun with YouTube. Because gardening is my thing, I watched videos on container gardening, herb gardening, etc.. The videos were from different parts of the world and offered a variety of opinions and suggestions. I would definintely look on YouTube again, especially for gardening or cooking.

CPL 2.0-

I had little trouble setting up an RSS feed and was able to list some of my favourite blogs. It will definitely save me time and this service is new to me.

CPL 2.0- Week 6 Google and its products

In Google's 'even more' products, I discovered Google's blog search. This product was of interest to me after the blog assignment. With blog search, I was able to select a topic (prairie gardening) and a variety of blogs from the Canadian prairies and the US were available to read. One in particular was of real interest and I may continue to follow it.

I did like the speed of the product and its ability to take me to blogs that I wouldn't have otherwise found. Some of them were very useful and had great information. I would recommend this product to others.

In the future, I look forward to exploring more of Google's products!

CPL 2.0- Week 5

Why do people use social networks?
Because people spend so much time on computers now, I think people use social networks to keep in touch. I don't imagine that many send photos and letters through the mail anymore-- although, I still do!
The assignment was good-- I learned that facebook is free, it is easy to set up an account and that I could track down long-lost friends.
